Nasia Delis Bio

Melbourne musician Nasia Delis just released her debut single, ‘Angel Dust’ – a stunning introduction into the world of an artist who’s spent years honing her craft behind the scenes.

You’d be right to think that the story behind the glistening pop of her debut single was a classic ode to a lover. Instead, the song was born from a place of frustration; a refreshingly honest and relatable one for many. “Before we got stuck into our writing session, I was essentially losing hope in men, ha!” says Nasia. “At that point, my past experiences with ‘love’ or ‘relationships’ was a headache and especially that day, I was not vibing it at all.” However it didn’t take long for the artist to take control of the narrative. Co-written with Taylor Hill and Brianna Catrice, ‘Angel Dust’ turned into one of empowerment and hope; a cathartic love letter to the future.

The dedication to the songwriting journey of ‘Angel Dust’ exemplifies Nasia’s innate passion and commitment to most facets of the dramatic arts. Growing up idolising powerhouses such as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson led Nasia down a path of acting, dancing and of course, singing – including operatic training. “Opera, like theatre, helped me learn how to connect to the audience with just me, my voice and character, which definitely inspires my music.” Empowered by the bold, high stakes of opera & the drama of musical theatre laid the foundations for what was next: songwriting. Whilst performing gave Nasia the ability to connect, at the heart was a desire to tell stories of her own & inspire others, especially young girls, whilst staying true to yourself.

“Ultimately, my music is for the listener. To help, to make them feel they’re not alone, to encourage, to inspire, to bring joy. As cheesy as it sounds, this is what music has done for me and it would be a dream to do that for people. I know the power of music and what it can do because it has helped me get through so much. Whether that is a marathon, getting over a heartbreak, just getting through the day, helping me overcome bullying, getting me pumped and empowered, just whatever the situation, it can be used like a fuel to keep going. But I want my music to come from a place of kindness and I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay true to yourself and not let life take the best from you, especially through adversity.”

Reflecting on ‘Angel Dust’ now, Nasia says: “When I sing the song, and I hear and listen to the lyrics the words that come to my head are Hope, true love, safety and trust. For me personally, this song represents the kind of love that I want in my life, when I find that someone to share it with and to have trust.”
